A Passion for the Unusual
Salon Vertigo is stylist Nina Juergens’ hair studio established in 1993, now in it's third location. My styles range from classic Sassoon to modern edgy and beautiful color to enhance your look.
My Work: With over 25 years experience starting with a summer in Toronto at Sassoon, I specialize in corrective color and precision cuts, working with your hair type to give you an easy to care for style. I find inspiration all around me and thrive when learning new techniques to bring into practice. I like to think of the process as creating simple, wearable art.
I use low ammonia Wella Koleston Perfect for strong pigmentation and great grey coverage and luxury Wella Illumina permanent hair color for translucent modern fashion shades which leave your hair feeling better than before it was colored. K-Pak vibrant is offered for pre-bleached fashion stains and Wella Color Touch semi permanent color gives you rich vibrant shade options that have great grey coverage with a nice gentle fade. For those with pigment allergies, Wella Koleston color has never contained pPD's, which are the most common allergen in hair color. Wella has recently relaunched the Koleston Perfect line which replaces the other possible allergen trigger (pTD) with a new ME+ molecule.
My two newest product lines are EVO from Australia and Verb from Austin. They are by far the most environmentally responsible retail companies I have dealt with: all of their products are sulphate, paraben, dea, tea and propylene glycol free, and soon to be gluten free, recyclable packaging and recycled paper for all their print materials and no animal testing. Along with all of my other salon product lines, I carry Modern Organic Products with certified organic ingredients shampoo, conditioners and styling products, Wella Elements paraben, sulfate and artificial color free shampoo and conditioners and Zoya toxin free nail polish and treatments - free of formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, camphor, toluene and dibutyl phthalate and vegan friendly.
The Space: My newest location is by far the most favorite for both me and my clients. This hidden gem is a loft-like setting in a late 1800's building, keeping much of it's history and changes front and center. The narrow slat pale wood floors as well as the exposed brick walls show evidence of the many previous tenants over the years and gives the salon a certain uniqueness. Part salon, part gift shop, you never know what you might find when coming in for a visit.
Salon Vertigo is a welcoming and comfortable spot with a communal feel, serving locally roasted Mighty Good Coffee and a selection of Arbor Teas to enjoy during your visit and validates parking up to 2 hours for clients in parking decks and lots. Stop by and say hello!
